Champions Online vs. Aion: Battle of the Year

Champions Online stays true to the comic book style of graphics, giving Champions a unique feel. The comic book cell-shading and bright coloring offers the player a vibrant, straight-from-the-comic-pages world to play in that draws comic fans into places they could previously only imagine within their own minds. If you aren't into the comic book art style though, you can actually turn some of those features off. In fact, the graphic options in CO allow for quite a bit of tailoring, so if you don't like the graphics right out of the box, you can play with them a bit to find what suits your tastes.

This game is on a PS2 and not much has changed since its predecessors. The 2D character art on 3D backdrops is still something I like more than the standard full 3D view. The skill effects are very nice although the menus can be cluttered and moves around at times on the world map making it hard to keep track of whats going on. The character portraits also look drastically different from the sprites which cause me a bit of confusion. For example, Ulrika's character is primarily dressed in red in the character art but her sprite is primarily pink. Enemies are frequently recolored and resized for different maps with adjusted attack power so be prepared to see the same enemies over and over again.
